GUILLAIN-BARRE SYNDROME Guillain-Barre Syndrome Disease introduction Guillain-Barre Syndrome (G.B.S) is a rare neuromuscular disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks nerve cells. This disorder can potentially be fatal to the point where it interferes with the patient's breathing which makes this considered as a medical emergency. It is currently unknown of what causes this disease but research shows that the disorder is often preceded by an infectious illness such as respiratory infection. This disease affects the body anatomically from the feet to the brain also known as “Ground to Brain”. There is no cure yet found for this syndrome but several treatments are currently used to help treat symptoms and reduce duration. Etiology It is currently unknown what causes this rare syndrome to occur but it is noticed that it is often preceded after a bacterial or a viral infection in the lungs or the gastrointestinal tract.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
