AuthorLast is a non-key column which is dependent only on AuthorNum , which is a portion of the Primary Key of the table General . 2NF is defined as: No non-key column is dependant on only a portion of the Primary Key. Thus, the example table is in First Normal Form but not in Second Normal Form .
