1 Hailee Williams Steve Stewart English 1102 31 March 2019 Langston Hughes´ ¨Mother to Son¨ Hughes uses metaphors, symbolism, and imagery to reveal the theme of perseverance in his poem ¨Mother to Son¨. This poem is based of a women giving her knowledge about life to her son so he will become better in life. Alike many of other poems it is very short and to the point but it also meaningful. It gives readers a real connection of the figurative language he uses while writing the poem. The character describes that although life may seem easier growing older that there will be some hard challenges to face and you have to keep looking for that light at the end of the tunnel until death catches up. The metaphors in ¨Mother to Son¨ brings the poem to life making the poem easy for readers to feel a real connection and deeper meaning.
