INNOVATION ARCHITECTUREIn today’s society there are many successful companies in the world. Among those successful companies, some definitely are more successful than others. Why is that? The main reason that the top companies in the world are the most successful is because of the use of innovation architecture. Innovation architecture can be defined as a place that builds an environment that models and encourages innovation. Building up a culture of innovation within acompany has many benefits not only for the company itself but also for the leaders and the employees working there. Some companies that use innovation architecture in their organization are Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple. In this essay it will discuss how each company uses processes and management systems to support innovation, why they capitalize on innovation, and which systems can stifle innovation. Each company has a unique culture and a way for doing things that helps create an environment for innovation to occur. Amazon is a company that is constantly innovating and moving up on the list of the top most innovated companies. In Kathleen McCaffrey’s article “10 Genius Examples of How to Encourage Employee Innovation”, she states, “Amazon’s internal website for employees features a virtual idea box. Just like the age-old suggestion box, this gives employees an easily accessible place to submit ideas big and small when they come to mind.” (McCaffrey, 2017). Amazon has a great communication line with the employees and the leaders of the company. Amazon allows its employees to suggest idea that can lead and shape the company. For example, the idea of free shipping, also know as Prime, was suggested by softwareengineer working for Amazon. Amazon also isn’t afraid to take risks when it comes to innovation. In Sonam’s article, she states that “Jeff Bezos believes the reason some decision-makers are too timid to take a new idea forward is because they mistake two-way doors for one-way doors.” (Peldon, 2017). A company needs to be able to take risks in order to test out if the 2
