Our patient this week was previously cleared without any physical restrictions to fully participate in summer football camp. However, during practice, the patient complained of thirst and dizziness and expressed that he had decreased urine output. In the ED, the patient had tachycardia ( pulse rate over 100 beats/min) and hypotension ( systolic is less than 100mm Hg). He also was experiencing elevated body temperature, dry mucous membranes, and alteration in skin turgor. Collectively this data indicates a nursing diagnosis of fluid volume deficient. I have chosen fluid volume deficient as a priority for this patient. NANDA-I diagnoses for fluid volume deficient is the decrease in intravascular, interstitial and or / intracellular fluid. Fluid deficient volume refers to dehydration which is a loss of water without changes in sodium level (Ladwig, Ackley & Makic,2017). I chose fluid volume deficient due to the rehydrating of the patient with IV fluids in an ambulance which will help with electrolyte imbalance. Intravenous therapy is the
