Why do you think McCarthy mentions religion – “western Christian world and the atheistic Communist world” – in his speech? Do you agree that the Cold War was a “moral war,” not a “political war” as McCarthy claims? He probably mentions religion as a factor to gain more supporters, even though its a little weird as the government and religion in America are separate. I think it was both, as often political agendas come from personal morals, or a lack thereof. I believe there really isn’t a difference between the two. But yes, it was definitely a political or moral war. 3. What do you think McCarthy is implying when he says “no nation, no people who believe in a god, can exist side by side with their communistic state”? He is implying that if you are religious in a communist state, then you cannot exist with the state happily, or possibly even at all.
