Think about things like identity theft, child pornography. Don’t have the law enforcement to take cybercrime down, don’t put enough focus on them and it’s hard to figure out how to tackle it because it’s within the black market. Technology has outgrown what law enforcement can deal with. Targeted messaging because hate groups. Extremist groups: want to often recruit youth. They go to youth and exploit the cultural and moral grievances that people may have ‑‑ feel that they don’t fit into society, victimization is another way to recruit, and isolation – someone who is alone and looking for an identity, sense of failure may feel as if they aren’t successful anywhere, and a lack of social integration skills – can be tied back into theories learned earlier in the course. may be searching for belonging, a noble cause, or simply looking to build a new identity. How do we solve radicalization? promising approach – holistic approach. Need everyone at the table, family, friends, health professionals, education. These can be used as proactive tools so they do not get involved with radicalization but can also be used to pull someone out of radicalization.
