Learning Activity 2 Coleman Neill April 14, 2019 When we are talking about Ancient Rome, the most notable achievements out of many I find to stick out the most are engineering and architecture. The people of Ancient Rome were incredibly smart and inventive industrialists. The concept of building domes was perfected and had become more popular because of the Romans. The domes were created as another way to get rid of the many columns that are necessary for supporting a massive roof. These ideas reflect Roman's want for industrial advancement. The second achievement that stood out to me is the construction of roads for travel. The Romans designed their roadways with a mixture of light and heavy weighted stones, and they covered these stones with a combination of rocks and mud which helped in the process of draining water. The roads were so well built a number of them are still intact today. They made these roads intending to be there a long time. They did not slack when creating these roads or create something that would have repeating problems.
