HIM 220 EHR Recommendations 2 HIM 220 Module Two Worksheet You are a healthcare professional working in a hospital that consists of 150 beds and 14 primary care clinics. You have been assigned the task of finding the perfect electronic solution for your healthcare organization in the form of an electronic health record (EHR). To find the best EHR, you must take a few steps into consideration by answering the items below: 1 What applications do you feel should be present in an EHR? The applications that I feel should be present in an EHR for the hospital I am working at should be the following: Registration and Admissions Specialty Clinical Applications such as radiology and labs Registries for Population Health Patient financial services EMAR or Electronic Medication Administration Record CDS or Clinical Decision Support System PHR or Personal Health Record Point of Care charting and documentation capabilities Results Management CPOE or Clinical Provider Order Entry Clinical Messaging Portal DMS or Document Management System 2 Identify a core group of individuals within the organization who should be actively involved in the selection of the EHR. The core group of individuals whom within the organization should be actively involved in the choice of the EHR should comprise of a collection of persons from Health Information Management. This group should include the director of HIM within the organization, a group of Medical coders will also be needing to be included as well as a representative from every department such as a representative such as the Emergency Room, the radiology department, lab department, surgery and a representative for the doctors and nurses and the other departments within the hospital.
