ACTIONS LEADING TO DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE 2 When the Americans felt that the Great Britain was not treating them like the British citizens, they were no longer interested in remaining loyal to the Great Britain. They felt that the Great Britain was not respecting them and that they lived in a way that they did not deserve in their own land. The Intolerable Acts which required the Great Britain to make decisions on behalf of the colonies made the Americans desire for a change. They therefore decided to take action that will make them to be freed from the power of the Great Britain and they will be able to run their country in their own ways (Rhodehamel & John, 2001). However, the Americans had a very weak army and their economy was not strong enough to fully support the fight they were planning to engage.
