2 RFID Presentation Introduction Radio- Frequency Identification (RFID) is a type of technology that is used to automatically track and identify objects through the use of electromagnetic fields (Hunt, Puglia, & Puglia, 2007). The tags attached to the objects contain electronically stored information and this information can be accessed by RFID readers which can operate hundreds of meters away. This is one of the methods of Automatic Identification and Data Capture. This technology is used in a number of industries such as automobile production, livestock and pet rearing as well as in the storage of pharmaceuticals in warehouses. RFID in the Transportation and Logistics Industry The transportation and logistics industry is associated with activities such as Yard management, shipping and freight as well as distribution. Several types of RFID technology are used in this industry. To begin with, under the railroad sector the RFID tags are attached to the moving vessels. These tags contain the identity of the owner whose cargo is being transported, the identification number and the type of goods and their characteristics (McAdams, 2011). This is made possible through the use of a database that identifies origin, lading and destination of commodities under transportation. RFID tags are also used in the aviation industry to support maintenance on commercial aircraft. The tags are used in the identification of luggage and cargo arriving and leaving the airports using different airlines.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
