Margaret Mead Margaret Mead was a pioneering anthropologist in this regard. Student of Franz Boas at Columbia University in New York. Coming of Age in Samoa , 1928 She went to Samoa to study adolescence. The question she took into the field was framed by the nature/nurture debate then raging in the US. In America adolescence was seen as a naturally troubling time. She asked: “Are the disturbances that vex our adolescents due to the nature of adolescence itself or to the civilization? Under different conditions does adolescence present a different picture?”

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
