Mandi McGaha LJ#1 This semester I am tutoring in Avery County on Thursday afternoons with the GEAR-UP program. The GEAR-UP program is to aid middle school and high school in academic success. In doing this the hope is that more students will graduate from high school and enroll in and be successful in college. The program strives to make both students and parents aware of what it takes to reach this goal so that everyone is on the same page when we all go home at night. This leads to the need for the tutoring component of the program. College students are not only tutoring students in the GEAR- UP program to help them with their homework, but also to set the example of someone who did work hard and make it to college. Also, by beginning the tutoring and encouraging students to push their limits academically in middle school could give students the extra help they may need in a particular subject before it becomes too big of a problem.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
