Operations Management in the Public Sector: Management Consultancies This particular study examines contemporary business methods such as Six Sigma, Lean and business process reengineering (BPR), which are more commonly utilized in the private sector. The application and implementation of a business approach in the public sector is requiring administrators to seek “management consultancies to support them in their efforts.” (MCA, 2010) It is the lack of knowledge and experience in business methodologies that present challenges in the transition and implementation of organizational approaches. This is presented in three components: operations and process management consultancy in the public sector, theorizing knowledge engagements, and methodology. According to Radnor & O’Mahoney (2013), there were several internal and external environmental factors that impact the actual execution of a selected (Six Sigma, Lean, TQM or BPR) business strategy, factors that range from ethical to operational. Privatization functional and operational activities as well as organization objectives differ from that of a public entity. For instance, the implementation of Total Quality Management (or TQM), a private entity has performance tools and techniques which assist with identifying areas which are not within the timeframe or are simply failing the growth goals. A formalized performance strategy like TQM, the private company can concentrate on their globalization strategy which refers to their procedures of global integration and incorporates the international operations and markets to a unified strategic entity. Firms that utilize this strategy are commonly dominant multinational enterprise; they attempt to monopolize markets in their own industries. Additionally, financial analysis is an emblematic mode of examination that reveals growth, sales, and forecasting. Many public sector entities purpose and scope are not concentrating on mastering globalization or even expansion.
