I am happy to meet with you at a mutually convenient time.Course Description: This course provides an examination within an ecological framework of the major theories, principles, and techniques of Mental Health Counseling and their application to professional counseling settings.The conditions that facilitate an effective counseling relationship, stages in the counseling process, and professional ethicswill be reviewed.Course Prerequisite: This is an introductory course and should be one of the first coursestaken in a Master's level counseling program.Course Relevance: This course is a requirement for students enrolled in the MSCP program at Northeastern University. It is also a requirement for Ph.D. Counseling Psychology students in the Department of Applied Psychology who did not take this course or its equivalent during their Master's programs. Course Goals: As a result of this course, students will become familiar with:1)The purpose and relevance of prominent counseling theories 2)The application of theories and techniques across diverse populations3)The application of theories to various problem orientations in counseling4)The counseling relationship1
