Running Head: Module 5 Reflection A Personal Perspective The principal will always remain the central source of leadership influence at a school (The School Principal as Leader, 2013). As a school leader, my philosophy on school improvement is that the school must always strive to improve instructional practice, student achievement, and the overall culture of the school. I believe to achieve success in these three categories, all stakeholders must come together and work as a team. Through teamwork, professional development, and an emphasis on school climate, the process of school improvement will operate in more efficient and successful manner. My current leadership role includes leading professional learning community meetings on a weekly basis to help teachers grow and flourish in their profession. Sometimes I am the one that introduces and train fellow teachers on new programs that we plan on implementing. I have a great relationship with these teachers because I am one of them. It really makes the buy-in process much easier for me compared to someone coming in from the school district trying to persuade teachers to jump on board. I have gained a great deal of credibility and trust from my fellow colleagues. They know how passionate I am about my role not only as a teacher but as a leader. Furthermore, after completing this course, I have come to the realization that I need to study and analyze data much more than in I have in the past. I need to really focus in on the research behind the plethora of improvement programs that are out there. Data has proven many of those programs to be successful but that same data has also indicated some to be failures. As a school leader, I will utilize the latest research when selecting improvement programs and
