February 4, 2008 Mr. Steve Mouras Director of Transportation Office of Transportation 104 University Storage Facilities Blacksburg, VA 24061 Dear Mr. Mouras: Since I became a student here at Virginia Tech three years ago, I have noticed that there have been many construction projects begun since then. The projects taking place on the interior of the campus are using up free space, but the buildings being constructed on the outside edges of the campus (i.e.: The Surge Space Building) have been taking the place of pre-existing parking lots. Using the Surge Space Building as an example, the parking lot which used to exist there was used as a commuter overflow lot for the Prices Fork / Perry Street Lots. Now, the parking lot is only used for faculty and staff. Faculty and staff also continue to park in commuter spots and not get ticketed while a commuter parking in an F/S spot will be ticketed quickly. At this point in time, commuter parking is at a
