BRIEF DISCUSSION 2 Brief Discussion During the 1960s, the American culture and politics underwent a transformational, divisive, tumultuous and bizarre change that was marked by Vietnam War, political assassinations, civil rights movements, antiwar protests, emergence of a generational gap, flower children, rebellion and backlash and idealism and alienation. In the 1960s, most of the Americans became upset with the involvement of the US in the Vietnam War, which saw an increase in the antiwar protests. The civil rights movement also gained momentum during the same period, which was subsequently followed by women’s rights movement and counterculture. Getting out of the Vietnam War was one of the major issues of the bitterly and tumultuously contested 1968 election. The assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr was also a significant concern. The Vietnam War significantly influenced the outcome of the election
