Heart Disease Intervention for African Americans 2 Heat disease or what is medical known as cardiovascular diseases is any disorder of the blood vessels of the heart that can make the heart weak when pumping blood and lead to a heart attack stork or death Heart disease, such as coronary heart disease, heart attacks, congestive heart failure, and congenital heart disease, is the leading cause of both African American men and women in United States which is more than any other race/ethnic group. African Americans have many factors that contribute to their increase level of being diagnosis with heart disease. One factor is the prevalence of high blood pressure (hypertension) in Black Americans which is among the highest in the world. In addition, African American develop high blood pressure earlier in life and their average blood pressure numbers are higher than Caucasian Americans.
