MLK Letter Analysis Questions 1. In his letter MLK provides a religious allusion. An example of this, is his reference to the message in the Biblical book of Acts verse 16. He includes such an allusion in his letter to explain why they were risking their well being. His reason for this is that injustice was rampant in Birmingham and where injustice is, he is compelled to preach the gospel of freedom even if it means going beyond their hometown. 2. MLK has received advice about waiting. His reaction to this advice was, “it is easy for those who have never felt the stinging darts of segregation to say, “wait”” (pg. 323). He denies the advice of waiting because for years they have waiting and the same issues still remain to the point of the word “Wait” almost meant “Never” (pg. 323). 3. MLK discusses white moderates who were sympathetic to the cause of civil rights. They are discussed because their lack of understanding of the purpose of law and order is a serious obstacle in the, “flow of social progress” (pg. 327). The purpose of law and order
