Empirical antibiotic treatment should be ordered to decrease risk of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), which can develop after drowning. Supplemental oxygen should be administered to maintain SPO2 96%. Fluid and electrolyte imbalances should be assessed and corrected with intravenous fluids. The spine should be stabilized until cervical- spine injuries have been ruled out (i-Human, 2019). Bronchodilators should be initiated for this patient due to diffuse inspiratory/expiratory wheezing, spo2 of 89%, and tachypnea. Bronchodilators can be used for quick relief to open airways by relaxing the muscle bands that tighten around the airways to improve breathing (Cleveland Clinic, 2015). According to Cantwell (2018), patients who experienced drowning should receive 100% oxygen and monitored by pulse oximetry or blood gases. Cantwell (2018) also suggest
