2AnemiaWhen an individual is suffering from anemia, the general condition that develops in the body is the lack of blood or healthy red blood cells in the body. With the lack of red blood cells in the body comes a lack of hemoglobin responsible for distributing oxygen to the body (Huether& McCance, 2017). When anemia occurs, so then does a lack of oxygen to the body’s cells and areaction from the body which includes dizziness, fatigue, shortness of breath, and tachycardia. There are different underlying causes to anemia, but in this paper the focus will be on iron deficient anemia and pernicious anemia. The most common form of anemia is iron deficiency anemia. With iron deficiency anemia, iron is depleted in the body and it is the iron in the body which enables the hemoglobin to be carried by the red blood cells. Without sufficient iron, the red blood cells cannot properly oxygenate the body, and tissue hypoxia can occur (Mayo Clinic, n.d.).
