Problem What is the problem the study was conducted to resolve? Opioid use for pain management in end-of-life patients causing distress and side effects that are not worth it. Why is the problem an important one for nursing to study? Nurses who are caring for end-of-life patients have an important role. One of their main jobs as care providers is to make the patient feel comfortable in the state they are in. If patients experience undesirable side effects that make them uneasy in the state they are in, its our job to take care of them the best we can. We can try different pain management techniques instead of resulting to opioids.
