Surname 1 Students Name Professor’s Name Course Date Technology and Education Introduction Over time, technology has been widely embraced in all aspects of life f rom buying current television and laptops with heightened capabilities to purchasing software’s that are used to make tasks easier (Nickerson, Raymond and Philip). Schools have not been left behind in the quest for technology. Every country is integrating technology into their learning institutions for the advantages that are going to be discussed in my research paper. I will also highlight on the shortcomings of the subject and recommendations to reduce the adverse effects caused by technology integration in the education sector. Historical Aspects of Technology in Schools Technology embracement has come a long way in schools from the days where there was only one computer in the school, typewriters were being used, and notes were also scribbled down in class. Today, almost every class has a modern printer; teachers come to class to explain concepts and hand over soft copy notes to students. Computers used today are also high-speed and can be integrated with educational software’s to aid learning unlike those of the old days (Nickerson, Raymond and Philip). Technology in Class

Surname 2 There is a variation from country to country, states and even schools on the degree to which degree has an impact, and this will depend on how much technology has been adopted and practically exploited in schools. For the case, different teachers and students may have different views on the advantages of technology. However, a general impact of technology in education are as discussed below. Technology as a Tutor For technology to function as a tutor, programs have to be developed and run during tutor hours to teach. The technological gadget, i.e. computer will forward questions during class periods then process answers from evaluation programs embedded in it to give a detailed response on whether an answer is right or wrong. Technology acts as a tutor especially for students who have different abilities. Students who have difficulty in pronunciation can play audio’s from whichever technological gadgets and practice on their pronunciations. Students with hearing impairments have also benefited from the advancements brought by technology which enables them to overcome challenges that they had earlier experienced (Greeves and Mathew). Computer as a Teaching Tool The computer as a technological tool in schools involves a teacher using it to make teaching more efficient. A teacher will need to install relevant programs in a computer , i.e. programs to run complex calculations so that instead of using more time on board calculations , a tutor will only feed in the input numbers to process output within a few seconds (Greeves and Mathew). A significant use for a computer will be for mapping in geography faculties, i.e. mapping in geographical positioning systems class.
