[name] [professor / class]5, May 2017Sociology in Movies AssignmentThe movie “Paris Is Burning” documents the lives and relationships of the LGBT dragculture that arose in the 80’s and 90’s. The film makes the claim that it is a movie about the “dragcircuit” and all the nuances and subtleties that go into the drag balls as well as how they cope andlive in a society that shuns them for being who they are. Despite our current increase in toleranceto LGBT rights, in the context of the film which was released in 1991 society’s view and opinionof gay people was much harsher.
