Communicating Evaluation Results
Introduction
There are numerous ways in which program evaluators can share or communicate their
evaluation findings to different audiences be it counselors or stakeholders. The evaluation
findings can be disseminated through traditional methods such as report writing or other
innovative methods such as briefings and conferences among others (Myers & Barnes, 2004).
The most important thing is the quality and influence of the findings that should be
methodologically appropriate, robust and evidence based. Good and credible communication of
the findings should be persuasive enough to the audience to acknowledge the conclusions and
recommendations of the findings as evidence based. This paper will evaluate ways the results of
the clinical mental health counselling program will be communicated to the counsellors and
stakeholders, ethical considerations during communication, how the results can be used to
improve the program and advance the counselling field (Myers & Barnes, 2004).
Communicating Results to Counselors and Colleagues
It is important to note that each group of stakeholders may not need the same type of
information nor do they need the findings communicated in the same way. For this reason,
therefore, the program evaluators must make certain that the message for each stakeholder group
is designed with regards to the informational needs of each group. This will to a large extent
might mean that the evaluators will be obliged to gather different types of evidence for different
types of stakeholder groups or use the same evidence for the groups and presenting it in different
ways.
For instance, for counsellors to deliver an intervention in administering their services,
they use processes on their clients that deliver identifiable outcomes at each stage. In most

instances, the processes used by the counsellors on their clients are determined by the outcomes
attempted since they tend to be dynamically and mutually associated. As a result, the counsellors
may need detailed information, evidences and testimonials from the program findings
communicated by the evaluator (Elkins, 2006).
Therefore, organizing conferences with the counsellors would be most appropriate
method to communicate the finding or results of the program evaluation. During the conference
sessions, the evaluator will have enough time to disseminate the program evaluation results in
detail and accuracy so that the counsellors, who are the most active stakeholders (due to their
direct indulgence with the clients/patients) can use the evaluation results to gauge their
performance, identify the loop holes, strengths, question and criticize the result if need be.
