Abstract Throughout this experimental process, it took about a week and half to complete and record the data results for each series of steps. This experimental process began with the pouring of the petri dishes, collecting water samples, presumptive test, and confirmed test. During this process, we manipulated two different microorganisms, Bacillus and E. coli , and used three different water samples, fountain water, bottle water, and sink water. We also utilized lauryl tryptose broth in a water sample to better be able to identify whether it was either negative with no gas present versus it being positive with gas present. This experimental step resulted in all negatives, meaning there was no gas present in each sample collected. We then streaked our EMB agar with the samples collected on separate petri dishes and we incubated them under 28.8 Celsius for a 24-hour period. Then, we alternated between incubating each dish and recorded our results which were Figure A & B had no color present and Figure C had a hot pink, metallic color of aggregated bacterial colonies and as for Figure D it had a metallic green, shiny color texture to it with the presence of tiny aligned bacterial colonies. In the end, the experiment showed that Figure A & B were inconclusive; but Figure C had a gram-positive result and Figure D had a gram-negative result. Lastly, we determined that Figure C

Introduction Under natural conditions nearly all water contains microorganisms. Water containing large numbers of microorganism may be perfectly safe for drinking if no pathogens are present.
