Unique Benoit 4/23/2019 COU 601 Cross Cultural Field Trip For my cross-cultural field trip, I decided to step out of my box and go to the TET Vietnamese New Year fest. Going in I was kind of skeptical and did not know what to expect because I was so closed minded. I thought I was going to be the only black person there and I went in feeling a bit of nervousness. The drive to the festival was about thirty-five minutes and was the last exit before reaching Slidell. Many people called this area “China Town” because of the abundance of the Vietnamese culture that lies in that area. From doctors to stores, everything was in this area. I started to fidget and regretting going when I pulled up. But, when I walked up to the entrance, I was proven wrong. The fest was very diverse and had people of all ages and race there. Going into this exercise I was always interested in this group. The main reason being that their culture seems so united. The way that they take pride in who they are made me want to be in attendance of one of their biggest holidays. When I heard about the fest, I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to learn about the culture.
