Problem Set #7 PUBH 305 – Introduction to Epidemiology 1. Given the following scenarios, identify the potential bias that would most likely  affect your study, whether the bias is differential or non-differential, and a  possible strategy to minimize the bias. a. You wish to conduct a case-control study on lung cancer and regular  marijuana use.  b. You are interested in determining the effectiveness of a new anti-ADHD  drug in a clinical trial. c. You wish to conduct a large prospective cohort study on multivitamin use  and heart disease. You need to assess multivitamin intake (type, amount,  dosage, etc.) in your cohort so you can determine who is exposed and  who is unexposed. d. You wish to conduct a case control study on the role of smoking and  rheumatoid arthritis (RA). To announce this to a group of clinicians who  care for RA patients. They agree to recruit RA patients for you, but many  of them are only recruiting RA patients who smoke. Controls are recruited  from the Emergency Department among patients who are admitted from  injuries sustained in car crashes. e. You are conducting a clinical trial on a new COX-2 inhibitor, a class of  pain medication similar to NSAIDs (Motrin) or Acetaminophen (Tylenol).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
