1) John F. Kennedy International Airport has plans to undergo a large redevelopment of the terminals, including building two new terminals and completely redesigning airport roads and parking. The project has already been funded by private investors and the FAA, and construction is scheduled to begin in 2023, with a scheduled completion date of 2025. The plans for JFK include new terminals, redesigning airport roads, increasing security, and adding retail space. Redesigning the airport would not only make it easier to get from point A to B, but would also eliminate some congestion that could be caused by the new terminals. The purpose of this is to accommodate an increased 15 million passengers each year. The Governors Airport Advisory Panel has set aside $13 billion in investments to modernize the airport, $12 billion of that has come from bonds sold privately or investors reserving a retail spot, with one billion coming from the Port Authority’s previously approved capital plan commitment.
