Tresa Poe Social Problems – SOC220 Instructor Winfred Avogo October 13, 2018 Human Trafficking Human trafficking is one of the fastest growing organized crimes in the world. Many people who go missing are kidnapped or coerced and then sold into slavery, whether it be labor or sex. Most victims of sex trafficking are women under the age of 25 who are United States citizens (States Fight Sex Trafficking of Kids., 2014). Most women are thrown into the sex industry in some way or another. A lot of the times these women are actually young girls in their teens. Peoples children are being kidnapped and forced into situations that change their lives forever. Some children are forced to work for someone as their slave. It is dangerous for women and children in many countries today due to human trafficking. To understand what our society would look like if human trafficking was addressed we would first have to understand why it is so common and not frowned upon in other countries. In countries with more poverty it is not frowned upon as much because this has always been a way of life for them. One child can be sold into slavery to help care for the other children. Families are forced into selling their children so they and their child can stay alive. Young girls are sold to older men for marriage, so the other members of the family have money to eat and live.
