THE IMPACT OF AIR CARGO OPERATIONS2The Impact of Air Cargo OperationsAir cargo is an important part of the transportation industry as well as the shipping industry. Without air cargo many of the things that we enjoy today would not exist. Not only that certain business models will not exist either (Amazon prime (the 2 day shipping aspect)) There are different types of air cargo. Some of these types are as followsHeavy cargo (HEA),Human remains (HUM),Live Animals (AVI),Dangerous Goods. (DGR)(Polish airlines LOT)There are 3 main factors to think about when looking at an air cargo operator. These points are scheduling, scheduling sensitivity, and traffic flow. Being deficient in any one of these factors can cause serious problems for any air cargo airline.Let’s talk about the first point, scheduling. Scheduling is a major part of any air cargo operation. Depending on the company air cargo operators have many different clients. These clients expect that their parcel/ package comes in on time. Because of this air cargo operators have to have a relatively consistent schedule. Depending on the this can be easy or relatively hard. If the cargo is being carried by a commercial airliner, scheduling is easy (Since they match up with when a commercial passenger flight is flying that way. However, If it is a dedicated cargo plane scheduling can be a little harder.Scheduling sensitivity is just as important as scheduling itself. As I mentioned before depending on the company air cargo operators have many different clients. These clients expect that their parcel/ package comes in on time.
