Cardiovascular disease orCVD is a group of blood vessel and heart disorders. Many different disorders can fall under thecategory of CVD. These include rheumatic heart disease which is when the muscles and heathvalves are damaged. Congenital heart disease is when the heart structure is damaged since birth,peripheral arterial disease is when the blood vessels leading to the arms and legs are disease.Cerebrovascular disease is where the blood vessels leading to the brain are disease. Coronaryheart disease where the vessels leading to the heart muscle are diseased. Finally, deep veinthrombosis which is when there are blood clots in the legs the can move to the heart and lungs.Many of these diseases often lead to heart attacks and strokes(World Health Organization,2017).Risk factors for CVD are an unhealthy diet, tobacco use, lack of physical activity, andalcohol use. These things can cause high blood pressure, overweight, obesity, and raised bloodglucose and lipid levels. Common symptoms include shortness of breath, feeling tired, chestpain, fever, joint pain, nausea and vomiting, numbness, fainting, dizziness, and headaches.
