COMPANY SELECTION & RATIONALE 2Company Selection & RationaleFor the final project, I have chosen to focus on building a business development plan for AmeriHealth Caritas, a national leader in the health care industry and the most respected managed care organizations (MCO) in the country (AmeriHealth Caritas, 2019). Founded in 1983 in West Philadelphia, AmeriHealth Caritas now serves over 5.3 million members in 15 states and the District of Columbia with multiple products such as; Medicaid, Medicare, Long-Term Services and Support (LTSS), Behavioral Health, and Pharmacy Benefit Management (AmeriHealth Caritas, 2019). AmeriHealth Caritas operates in a highly competitive market with other MCOs such as; Centene Corporation, Aetna Better Health, United Health Group, and AmeriGroup (Healthy Blue). Innovative, cost-effective solutions are a key concern as AmeriHealth Caritas’ goal is to provide top-notch care while improving the efficiency and predictability of Medicaid spending for all our 15 states and federal partners (AmeriHealth Caritas, 2019). The organization’s vision for global expansion involves its Next Generation Model of Care where members and their families are the company’s #1 priority. This means the organization not only improves health outcomes but also the economic and social issues or socialdeterminants of health which impact member’s overall health.
