LCA Part 2 Maintenance.docx - 1 Identify and describe the...

This preview shows page 1 - 2 out of 2 pages.

1) Identify and describe the specific part and material that you wish to investigate. Please also identify who ‘owns’ or is ‘responsible for’ the part and system. Examples: The City of Ellensburg gas supply ‘residential supply shutoff valve’ has a brass gate. I wish to investigate the gas shutoff valve that regulates gas supply to homes. The shut of valve is made of bronze, it looks almost like it is made of gold, but it is just lustrous shade of bronze. Usually, there are two valves in each home, the main and the individual. I am speaking of the main valve, which is the property of the homeowner. Therefore, the owner is the one responsible for its maintenance in case it breaks down 2) Now describe a scenario in which this material and part fails, thus causing the system to fail or degrade operation. Example: The gas valve breaks when a fireman tries to shut it off, allowing gas to continue into the structure and burn the house down.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
