A stiffer spring will cause the period to be shorter. Mass added to the pendulum will have no effect to the period. As the length of the spring increases, the period will also increase.Materials:Timer, string, mass set, weak spring, stiff spring, Hooke’s Law apparatus, and mass hanger.Procedure:1.First, set up Hooke’s Law apparatus.2.Attach the weak spring and mass hanger to Hooke’s Law apparatus. 3.Add mass to the mass hanger.4.Start timer while simultaneously pulling the mass hanger down.5.Count to 10 bounces and stop the timer.6.Repeat steps 3-5 with varying amounts of mass for 5 more trials.7.Repeat steps 3-6 with a stiff spring.8.Set up the pendulum.
