MEMORANDUM:To: Raghuram KrishnanFrom: Hannah BartonSection: 911Date: 11/30/18Re: MMET 301 Lab 7Purpose:The purpose of this lab is to understand the gears, their nomenclature, and their applications.Procedure:Exercise IA:Using the provided Boston catalog, use the given gear nomenclature to give the gear type, diametral pitch, pitch diameter, number of teeth, pressure angle, and bore inch. Also identify the page number in the catalog and the part number in a separate Browning catalog.Exercise IB:Given the three gear pairs, find the gear ratio for each pair. Then, find the HP in the catalog and calculate the maximum torque for another set of gears.Exercise II:Select a gear drive for the given specifications and by calculating the service factor, required HP, and speed ratio. These values allow for the identification of the diametral pitch and teeth number to find the correct gear drive. Results:The results for the labs are enclosed in the attached lab report and handouts.
