Max Donahoe Mr. Suprenant College Composition 8 April 2019 Writing Assignment 2 Theme: Fatherhood Page 126-150 “I want you to help me. If you don’t want to hold the lamp you’ll have to take the pistol. I’ll hold the lamp. Okay. This is what the good guys do. They keep trying. They dont give up” (McCarthy 137). This is significant to the meaning of fatherhood because of the teaching and motivation the father bring to his son. The father knows that his son needs to understand the characteristics of being a good guy. He wants to ingrain the thought into his son mind, so when the time comes the boy is able to realize right from wrong. This is what a lot of fathers do, they try to make their son believe that anything is possible if he keeps trying and doesn’t give up. Papa does a great job at showing the positive side towards his boy. I think he hopes that the son will understand the idea of never giving up and strive to be better. Pages 151-175 “ You should thank him you know, the man said. I wouldnt have given you anything” (McCarthy 173).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
