Argues for Hayekian argument that reforming marriage by allowing gays to marry will produce chaos in our society or destroy the institution of marriage. 2. Denies love is essential for marriage 3. Grants having and raising children is one of the main purposes 4. 2 other social purpose 1. It tames and civilizes young mages 2. Provides the married person with a reliable caregiver 5. Argues that gay marriage accomplishes these two additional social purposes so it should be allowed and even encouraged for gay people. Against Love 1. Couples stay together because they view their marriage as a partnership: an investment in social stability for themselves and their children 2. Secular society only tells us a few things about marriage i. First, marriage happens only with the consent of the parties ii. Second, the parties are not children iii. Third, a number of parties is two iv. Fourth, one is a man and the other is a woman
