Don’t need to bring your textbook, notes and so on. -Please review textbook, notes, pre/post quizzes. Please really understand the class examples/exercises. Chapter 1 Patterns of Motion and Equilibrium -Understand mass, inertia, weight, volume. Know how to find weight (in N) if you know mass (in kg). Weight= mass x grams (newtons= kg x 9.8) Mass is same everywhere, weight is different - Understand t he Equilibrium Rule: When an object has no changes in motion (either at rest or moving at a constant speed), we say that object is at equilibrium and the net force on the object is zero. In math equation: Σ F = 0 Σ stands for “the sum of, the net” and F stands for all vector forces. -Know how to use this rule to answer questions. -Realize the supporting force, friction force exist. Understand speed -velocity- speed and direction, higher speed, higher the velocity -acceleration- change of velocity time Know how to answer the questions and do simple calculations.
