Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and his team has innovated theway CRM applications operate and have helped over 150,000 companies become moresuccessful and build stronger relationships with their own customer base (Weinberger, 2018).The Salesforce platform offers an e-commerce software as a service (SaaS) that provides manydifferent functions for its customers to connect to their customers and help manage therelationships between the two. This has helped transform the way businesses connect with theircustomers by offering transparency throughout the business relationship. Salesforce is not asingle standalone product, they offers many varieties of services for the customer base; theseservices include: The Marketing Cloud, The Community Cloud, The Commerce Cloud, TheSales Cloud, and The Service Cloud to name a few (Hoovers, 2019). While Salesforce offersgreat products, those products comes with great risks to the company and its customers.Salesforce is a big target for hackers and many cybersecurity risks are present that Salesforcemust deal with to ensure the company maintains its the availability, confidentiality, and integrityfor the customers that rely on their services to properly function. Listed below are just a few risksthat could impact the company and must be addressed:Weak network security – Network security needs to be prioritized holistically.From physical access restriction to protection from unauthorized digital access.The wrong people gaining access to the network can steal information fromSalesforces and its many layers of customers.Employee security training – Proper training of Salesforce employees and IT staffis critical to protecting the assets at Salesforce for the organization and its

Untrained employees could unknowingly give attackers access to thesystem.Database breach – The database should be properly protected in the situationwhere there is a data breach. Encrypting the data on the server and the backupserver will properly protect data even if a breach occurs.Proper IoT device security – Since Salesforce is a multilayered organizationholding data of its clients and its clients, clients, it is important that endpointdevices used to access the Salesforce customer portal have the properauthentication protocols in place to provide integrity and non-repudiation.
