1. What is an alchemist? An alchemist is a person who has dedicated their entire lives to the purification of metals in their laboratories. They believed that if metal was heated, it would become free of all its individual properties and whatever was left would be the soul of the world. 2. Explain the Elixir of Life, the Master Work, and the Philosopher’s Stone (page 80-81). The Master work is the soul of the World allowing them to understand anything on the face of the earth, because it was the language with that they communicated with- it was part liquid and part solid. The Elixir of Life is the liquid part of the Master Work- it cured all illnesses and kept the alchemist from growing old. The solid part was the Philosopher’s Stone. 3. Why was the alchemist watching people as they entered the oasis from the caravan?
