05.05 ANALYZING 20TH CENTURY POETRY - "THE RED WHEELBARROW" BY WILLIAM CARLOS WILLIAMS “so much dependsupon a red wheelbarrow glazed with rainwater beside the whitechickens.”In the Red Wheelbarrow, William Carlos Williams takes important topics like discrimination and segregation against people of color in the work force during the 20thcentury. He depicts this as the wheelbarrow represents colored people, and as they may not be used as frequently as the chickens or water, they are essential. Many people higher up on the working ladder, don’t realize how important colored people are in the work force.
