04-16-2007 Breakout from Normandy Patton to the seine 8-19-1944 Bradley’s attempt to trap Germans at the seine Patton to the Meuse 8-31-1944 Envelopment over destruction of armies Problem of Paris Ike’s Reservations General Dietrich von Choltitz Capture 8-25-1944 by General LeClerc German collapse and the emergence of the strategy question The broad front with two emphases- in the North heading toward Antwerp and Holland and the American part to attack coblance, US forces up middle Monty’s demand for revision 8-15-1944- concentrate everything on the left, take the Ruhr and cripple the German production capability. Patton and Bradley’s demand for revision 8-31-1944- wanted to go down the middle and he had a straight path to Berlin Could Patton have ended the war? Later!- He had an easy path to Berlin without resistance, however, once he got there he would not have been able to win the war on his own. Ike sides with Monty-
