2017. This is a grave problem, because the United States is already practicing gas emissions and
destructive environmental practices that go directly against the missions of the Paris Accord,
worsening this already pressing issue.
The Paris Climate Accord is an agreement between various nations with a goal of reducing
toxic emissions in the atmosphere that negatively enhance the recurring problem of global
warming. Over 190 countries signed on to this agreement in attempt to collectively reduce
atmospheric temperatures down two degrees Celsius. Even though climate change would be
moderated with this best-case scenario, its problems would still be omnipresent (Domonoske). The
only two nations currently not involved with these plans are Syria and Nicaragua; and now the
United States has asserted its plan to disengage as well. The Paris Climate Accord’s primary goal is
outlined in their 2020 plans. The Accord’s long-term goal is to cut greenhouse emissions every five
years and eventually reduce them to zero by the year 2050 (Resnick). Plans are also being made
