CMM 351: Public Speaking Spring 2018 – Sections 01 & 02 (Sangalang) Speech #4: Sensory Aid Speech Speech #4: Sensory Aid Speech Speech Length: 6:30 – 7:30 minutes Other Important Dates Topic Selection: Send me an e-mail ( ) with your topic and sensory aid idea on/ . Peer Review: Your peers will review your thesis statement, outline, and APA-formatted bibliography±in±class . Please come to class with preliminary drafts of these materials. Purpose The Sensory Speech assignment allows you the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to plan, design, and use sensory aids to enhance the content of your formal presentation. Content Element: Using a sensory aid to enhance your speech content and thesis Your speech may be either informative or persuasive in nature, but must lend itself to the use of some type of sensory aid . The sensory aid should not only supplement your arguments and main points, but should provide information that is exclusive or essential to the speech (as in, without aid, the speech would not be as clear or meaningful). I encourage you to think broadly about what constitutes a “visual aid” – think beyond PowerPoint presentation! You could use a combination of photographs, graphs/charts, videos, music/audio, or props. Perhaps your sensory aid will be a demonstration. Please keep your sensory aid school appropriate; if you would not normally be allowed to bring the aid to a regular class period, it is not allowed for the speech. You may also want to consider revisiting one of your former speech topics. Similar to last speech, you will support your positions with scholarship and evidence. You are required to include four external sources, three of which must be peer-reviewed, academic sources . Delivery Element: Fluency and articulation/pronunciation The delivery elements of this speech primarily focus on enhancing speaking fluency. This will include mastering transitions between your main points, as well as clearly articulating your word choices and pronunciations.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
