Stat/ME 424, Spring 2008 Practice Exam for Second Midterm Examination This is a closed book exam, except for four pages of notes. You are allowed to use calculators. There are four problems in this exam. In order to get full credit, please answer all problems. Please put your answers in a blue book with your name on the blue book cover. Problem 1 A group of Stat 424 students will convene to compare four different brands of beers - Miller Lite, Bud Lite, American Amber and Ballantite Ale. The group is composed of six people, Earth, Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter, who are expert tasters. The maximum number of different brands that an individual taster will taste is 2. (a) What experimental design would be the best to use in this situation (just name the design)? (b) How many times will each treatment be replicated in this design? (c) Construct the design (i.e., show which expert will taste which brands of beers).
