Week 4 DQ 2Describe the "levels of evidence" and provide an example of the type of practice change that could resultfrom each.Evidence-based care improves patient outcomes. It is based on patients’ values, clinical expertise, and research findings. Hierarchy of evidence or LOE is assigned to researches based on the quality of their applicability to care, validity, and design. LOE consist of the following. The first level includes evidence-based practice guidelines based on evidence from a meta-analysis or systematic review of RCT (Ackley, Swan, Ladwig, & Tucker, 2008). At this level, healthcare professionals should start following a recommendation. The second level includes evidence from at least one relevant RCT. At this level, healthcare professionals continue following a recommendation while remaining sensitive to patient preferences and alert to new data. The third level includes evidence from RCTs without randomization.
