2 COMPARING GROUPS Abstract: When facing a task that is too overwhelming to accomplish by an individual, working with a group can be helpful, but can also be challenging. To successfully accomplish a task with a group, it is important that the group work united as a team. Bruce Tuckman states five stages of development that a group must go through to become a team and successfully tackle problems , find solutions, and deliver results (Tuckman, 1965). The five stages are forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning. This paper will explore the stages of team development among the group in 12 Angry Men and Apollo 13. We will also take a look at the similarities and differences between the groups and how these factors played into their successes and their failures.
