.Bleeding kansas lasted between 1854-1861, Bleeding Kansas became a vioent poitical confrontation..Northerners and southerners rushed to settle Kansas and gain a majority in the territory. The proslavery forces fraudulently elected a legislature and passed laws supporting slavery. Sporadic violence erupted leading journalists to call the conflict “Bleeding Kansas”.
HOW THE KANSAS NEBRASKA ACT PLAYED A ROLE:
.Through the Missouri Compromiseof 1820, Congress kept a tenuous balance of political power between North and South. In May 1854, the Kansas–Nebraska Actcreated from unorganized Indian lands the territories of Kansas and Nebraska. However, Kansas Territory officials were appointed (1854) by the pro-slavery administration of PresidentFranklin Pierce(in office 1853–1857), and thousands of non-resident pro-slavery Missourians entered Kansas with the goal of winning elections.
